On Thursday evening, the trade magazine VerkehrsRundschau presented awards to transport and logistics companies, manufacturers, cooperations and service providers that have shown outstanding performance or implemented a particularly innovative idea in the categories “Training and further education”, “Digitalization” or “Environment” in 2022. At the award gala at the Bayrischer Hof, the Paderborn-based transport and logistics service provider Hartmann International was also awarded first place in the “Digitalization/Cooperation” category.
The Hartmann Group, with 570 employees and locations in Paderborn and Ibbenbüren, is a partner and digital pioneer of the CargoLine general cargo cooperation and has implemented the step towards automated and optimized scheduling with the Munich-based software company Smartlane. This cooperation, which aims to plan routes in local transport in a fully efficient and sustainable manner based on order priority, costs, distance and number of stops, has now been recognized by the VR Awards committee.

The winners of the various categories were honored at a festive gala in Munich. Together with Smartlane, Hartmann International was the winner in the “Digitalization/Cooperation” category.
The Paderborn-based logistics company has been involved in the digitalization of the transport industry for many years and works closely with the garage33 incubator and the local university. According to Hartmann’s Managing Director Uwe Lachmann, the motive for automating dispatching was to relieve dispatchers of certain subtasks with the help of software so that they can also cope with future increases in volume due to the growing e-commerce business. Hartmann is expecting a significant annual increase in turnover over the next few years and is currently investing in the expansion of its forwarding and logistics facilities in Paderborn-Mönkeloh.
